The article is devoted to the therapeutic dimension of oral history, which forces researchers to adopt an approach based on empathic understanding. The interview – just like a psychoanalysis session – gives the interviewees/witnesses of history an opportunity to recall what was lost, the memories that shape their identity and sense of their own lives.
