Telecollaboration, in Foreign Language Education, is achieved by bringing together geographically distant learners on a project work through the application of online communication tools. The authors seek to establish whether there is any correlation between the engagement of learners in this type of project and their level of satisfaction when the task is completed. The paper introduces the notions of telecollaborative writing and of engagement, to present then the results of a qualitative and quantitative study of Italian and Spanish student interactions in a forum within a project of writing practice in French. The results emerging from the study, crossed with those provided by the students themselves in their answers to questionnaires, suggest that the notion of engagement is too complex to make it possible to assert a close correlation between engagement and satisfaction level.
