DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT A CHALLENGE OF INNOVATION IN ARCHITECTURE
Abstract
Today, architects are questioning the effectiveness of the education system, which in many cases they themselves undertook as students and professors, taking into account the demands that postmodern architecture offices require, due to digital contributions in design processes. This study seeks to contrast the global digital tendencies in the design against the architecture curricula. The methodology used was an analysis of the curricular contents of the faculties in the city of Morelia, capital of the state of Michoacán and where the largest number of them is concentrated, as well as an analysis of the innovations in digital tools. The study reveals that there are five categories in the digital advance of design, which require having both computer and informational competences, moving through from representation systems to event-oriented simulators, while on the university level is only addressing the basic levels. There was trend of accelerated change for the use of advanced digital systems, so the challenge is to have the ability to incorporate computer and information skills to be on par with the innovations that are intended.
