Background: the herniated lumbar disc continues to affect a large number of patients and causes additional distress and tension. Objective: to describe the result of ozonotherapy in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation in patients treated at "Camilo Cienfuegos" provincial hospital in Sancti Spíritus from December, 2020 to July, 2022. Methods: a descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was performed in patients with the characteristics defined in the objective and who gave their consent to be included. The sample was of 130 patients, divided into two groups: the study group (cases) who were given ozone treatment plus conventional drug therapy and control, both with 65 patients, for a ratio 1:1. Both groups were evaluated at the beginning, fifth session, and end of treatment. Results: patients between 50-59 years (46.15 %) and males (60.77 %) predominated. Pain intensity decreased after treatment, remaining moderate and mild in 53.84 % of cases, with better results for the study group (61.54 %). The absence of pain occurred more in the study group (53.85 %) than in the control group (35.38 %). Only two patients, both from the control group, had a poor therapeutic response. Conclusions: Including ozonotherapy in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation favoured the patient’s health status.
