DISSOLVING LINGUISTIC BORDERS: MULTILINGUAL LITERATURE TRANSLATION
Abstract
In the developing multilingual literary world, translators are faced with the problem of literary texts representing a symbiosis of two or more languages used by the author to express a bilingual reality. The study of approaches to the translation of multilingual/bilingual texts will allow developing a strategy that will help maintain the symmetry of an adequate translation of multicultural and multilingual units of the original. The article describes the main difficulties that a translator has to deal with when working on multilingual texts; an algorithm is proposed that sets the priorities for work on intercultural and interlingual adaptation of the original; it is determined that code switching (CS) in most translations ceases to exist due to case change or other strategies. It is concluded that the translator's observance of the original code structure/code-switching when transferring it to the target language is the main criterion for recreating the unity of the content and form of the original by means of other languages.
