O statuetă ceramică a Afroditei descoperită la Callatis–Mangalia

Abstract

In 2002, a limited archaeological excavation was carried out on 3 B, Arcului Street, within the urban area of Hellenistic period Callatis. From an archaeological point a view, the north-western corner of a Hellenistic edifice was researched, where a fragmentary ceramic statuette of Aphrodite Anadyomene was found together with fragments of a small ceramic altar. The discovery confirms the cultic character of this type of ceramic statuette, while adding another researched site on the map of the Hellenistic city of Callatis.
