Kitchen digested wastewater contain high levels of nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand (COD), salts, toxic substances, and oils and the treatment of these pollutants is a challenge for wastewater treatment plant. Our goal was to analyze the feasibility of removing pollutants such as high concentrations of organic matter, ammonia, phosphorus, and oils using a proven new process for treating urban wastewater. The novel process was capable of achieving efficient nitrogen and phosphorus removal and the harmless treatment of kitchen digested wastewater. Based on the characteristics of kitchen digested wastewater and a successful treatment process, improved multi-stage anoxic/aerobic (A/O) technology, anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic (AOA) technology, mainstream anaerobic ammonia oxidation (Anammox) technology process theory and application characteristics were introduced in detail. The feasibility of biological deep nitrogen and phosphorus removal was analyzed. The new technology was applied to the fine treatment of kitchen digested wastewater, realizing the participation of multiple systems, enhancing nitrogen migration and transformation pathways, and realizing efficient nitrogen removal, and phosphorus and carbon removal. Meanwhile, the toxic components were analyzed and reduced to achieve harmless effluent and resource utilization.
