Per una critica dell’irragionevolezza. Sul concetto di funzione simbolica in Ernst Cassirer e Aby Warburg

Abstract

The fruitful intellectual exchange between Aby Warburg and Ernst Cassirer revolves around the concept of “symbolic function”. In particular, the concept of function that emerges from Cassirer’s early volume, Substance and Function (1910), can be applied to the analysis of the compositional principle that gives shape to the architecture of Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas.
