A reestruturação espacial da Zona Portuária do Rio de Janeiro: uma análise a partir do Carnaval de Rua e da mídia hegemônica

Abstract

Porto Maravilha, as it was proposed and became known, modified the entire production of space in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro directly impacting various spatial processes in the central area of Rio. This article is the result of an analysis undertaken on the spatial restructuring underway in the Port Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro and aims to discuss how the area's Street Carnival is an essential part of the process in progress. To this end, in addition to the theoretical foundation and the survey of primary data we investigate how the hegemonic media, more specifically, in this case, the newspaper O Globo, plays a decisive role in the spatial restructuring of the port of Rio de Janeiro.
