Being one of the most important tasks in the formation of natural science thinking, teaching physics often encounters difficulties due to the gap between the theoretical approach and practical experience. Even in well-equipped educational institutions conducting laboratory classes does not provide student with sufficient experience, which is necessary for future practical activities. It seems to us that in the case when student himself makes a physical device and conducts experiments on it (according to his own program), his ideas about physical phenomena are more solid. The rapidly developing digital technology leaves a huge number of past generation’s instruments, from which student can create home-made physical devices. This article contains several examples of such devices, the manufacture of which is available to most students.
