Myths related to physical activity and sports in students of secondary school according to lifestyle
Abstract
The aim of the present study was to assess the level of knowledge about different myths related to physical activity and sports and its relation to sex, students who repeat course, course and lifestyle in a sample of secondary education students. For this, the Short Krece Plus Test questionnaire and an ad hoc designed exam were administered to 468 students of secondary school, aged between 12 and 20 years old. The results have shown that secondary students present difficulties to identify the falseness of the studied myths, especially between the students of lower courses. Regarding to lifestyle, significant differences have been found just in two of the ten analyzed myths. Therefore, it has been reflected the need of the design and application of programs which deal with the false beliefs related to the practice of physical activity and sports among schoolchildren.
