With the rapid development of energy storage technology, photovoltaic-coupled energy storage system (PV-ESS) application projects improve the power generation efficiency, which have brought good social effects to local economy, environment, energy and other aspects. It is necessary to develop a set of scientific, reasonable, and effective assessment index systems and assessment models to analyze the social effects of PV-ESS projects. Firstly, according to the characteristics of PV-ESS projects, this paper establishes a social effects assessment index system from local social economy/environment/energy/public aspects (EEEP) of PV-ESS projects. Secondly, the social effect assessment model is constructed by using the BP network model optimized by genetic algorithm (GA-BP network model). Finally, the GA-AP network model is used to assess the social effects of 10 PV-ESS projects and 5 PV projects in the northwest China. The simulation results show that the social effects assessment index system constructed in this paper is comprehensive, reasonable, scientific and effective, and the GA-BP network model has good performance in model accuracy and time cost, which is suitable for PV-ESS projects social effects assessment.
