Relevance of research. The necessity to involve users of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine in the active usage of literary and artistic content of the 1920-1930s Ukrainian magazines of, which can be found in the library through an digital catalogue (DC). The purpose of the article is to outline the chief activities of scientists conducted in order to create a separate database of the period magazines. Presentation of the main research material. The historiography of Ukrainian literary and art magazines of that time is defined. Attention is focused on the main publications of this historical period: "Vaplite", "Gart", "New Generation", "New Community", "Red Way". The features of the magazines such as the maintenance, the quantitative characteristic, language, a thematic direction, a place of the edition, periodicity, etc. are analyzed. The recatalogization of the traditional card catalog of periodicals for the search convenience of the magazines titles of that historical period online is explained. An analysis of the work of the periodical sector of the department of complex processing of documents of the VNLU and the development of the retrospective bibliographic index of Ukrainian magazines of the first decades of the Ukrainian SSR. Conclusions. It is noted that the library is currently actively working with the invaluable treasure of the state, doing everything to provide users the access to the unique resources. Recataloguing the traditional card catalog to obtain information on the availability of literary magazines of the 1920-1930s in the database will create convenient, comfortable working conditions for readers.
