The research made it possible to carry out a study of commercial activity in the parish of Manta in order to measure its economic impact on commercial businesses. The REDATAM statistical software allowed it to be the statistical support for the analysis of the variables selected in the study. The descriptive method was used in order to carry out a study based on the variables branch of activity and type of activity. At the educational level of the population, the primary level is the most representative with 33.76% of the total, followed by the secondary level which represents 23.16% and in third position 16.93% which corresponds to the higher level. Of 23 branches of activities, the wholesale and retail commercial branch is the most representative, with 21.79% of the population involved in the exercise of this branch, followed by the manufacturing industry branch which represented 14.95% of the total. total of existing branches of activities. A relevant result was the level of occupation group, it turned out to be service workers and salespeople, who represented 19.91% of the total population studied. It was determined that commercial activity has a great influence on the economic sustainability of existing businesses in the town.Keywords: commercial activity; commercial business; branch of activit
