Diagnosis by imaging of the carpal tunnel syndrome
Abstract
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a frequent disease, produced by mediannerve compression. In most of the cases the diagnosis is supportedby clinical examination; however there are some atypical caseswhere imaging is very important to confirm the diagnosis. Magneticresonance imaging is a well known and very important techniquefor the diagnosis of the carpal tunnel syndrome, but nowadays ultrasound has gain a place in the diagnosis of these syndrome because it is cheaper, takes shorter time, and has similar diagnostic criteria than magnetic resonance.
