Le rôle des médias dans le développement communautaire

Abstract

The aim of this article is to provide an approach on the issue of community development as it is reflected in the newspaper Viața Liberă, from the town of Galați, one town in the South-East region of Romania. The newspaper articles on this social issue will constitute the empirical data of this article and will be studied on a period of six months. The analysis will be based on sociological methods (content analysis), this social issue being dealt with in terms of a frequency approach. The analysis will take into account some themes related to the issue of community development: the citizens’ involvement in identifying the community problems and in the decision making process, the establishment of mechanisms to stop and prevent poverty and, at the same time, to create a social capital; the attraction of foreign investments; the fundraising activities; the cooperation efforts of the community actors (NGOs, public authorities, economic agents and others), and the creation of community and inter-community partnerships.
