Projects of industrial production systems can be understood as multi-criteria optimization problems, due to the large number of decision variables involved and the multiple objectives. This article aims to identify a solution for a new layout in a small fitness clothing industry, arranged by processes for the production of large batches. This single case study was conducted based on the proposed steps of industrial planning. Among the results obtained were: the production of a vertical solution with greater flexibility in the physical arrangement; better materials flow; and improved communication between people, in relation to the current situation, which resulted in an increase of 1.9 times in the production capacity for smooth trousers , from 15,680 pieces/month to 30,240 pieces/month, as well as an increase in the efficiency of the use of space. The results indicate that it is not necessary to use sophisticated mathematical tools for the performance of professionals of Product Engineering for the production of adequate layout solutions.
