Disparity in the concentration dependence of interdiffusion coefficient under 1D and 2D diffusion interface migration
Abstract
The common assumption that the concentration dependence of interdiffusion coefficient (D(C)) is an isothermally constant material parameter that is independent of geometry is theoretically and experimentally investigated, using the cases of 1D and 2D diffusion interface migration in the planar and cylindrical systems, respectively. The theoretical results, which are experimentally validated, show that the D(C) can change with diffusion geometry, in contrast to what is commonly assumed.
