The comparison of several inscriptions from southern Numidia shows that the imperial estate district of Theueste was, like that of Carthage, subdivided into regiones administered by freedmen imperial procurators. On the other hand, an unpublished honorary inscription from Theueste to an anonymous equestrian procurator, provides the first known mention of a specific service responsible for controlling the patrimonium accounts. These documents clearly highlight the complexity of the structure of imperial estates administration, proof of its importance for the finances of the Roman state.
