The Effectiveness of Life Review Therapy on Loneliness and Resilience in Divorced Single Parent Mothers
Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of life review therapy on loneliness and resilience in divorced single parent mothers in 2016. In this research, an accessible sample of divorced single parent mothers in Mashhad city who had replied to the life review therapy request of the researcher was used. The research sample included 20 divorced mothers who were randomly assigned to the experimental group (10 persons) and control group (10 persons). The participants of the experimental group attended 10 sessions of 90 minutes of the life review therapy and participants of the control group did not receive any treatment. This research was a quasi-experimental pre-test, post-test design with a control group. The instrument in this current study were the loneliness questionnaire (UCLA) and Connor Davidson Resilience Scale. Both groups completed questionnaires as pre-test and post-test. The results showed that group life review therapy was effective on reducing the loneliness (F=54/17,P<0001) and improving the resilience (P<0001 ,F=98/29 )) of divorced single parent mothers. Thus, life review therapy can be used as an effective and successful treatment in reducing loneliness and increasing the resilience of divorced single parent mothers and as adjunct therapy for other treatments.
