Demand for tall buildings such as towers and masts has increased due to the development of telecommunications and electricity network infrastructure. Building new and more efficient load-bearing structures is strongly dependent on the early design phase. One of the key aspects to developing a new structural system for towers and masts is to find a new efficient structural form. This study investigates and presents an innovative prestressed structural sys-tem, which consists of spun concrete core, struts and tension ties. In this work, a system with a variable number of struts and with different widths of the structure was analysed. The new structure is compared with existing systems in terms of weight and CO2 emissions. The recommended number of struts is 1 or 2 elements. The use of this type of system signifi-cantly reduces the weight of these structures as well as the resultant CO2 emissions.
