Objectives To present the youth seen in the context of contemporary crises of family, school, Church. Material and methods The material is a rich psycho-pedagogical literature describing adolescents themselves, the specifics of their development and upbringing as well as selected crisisogenic areas disturbing the normal development of a modern adolescent. The method used is an analysis of the rich literature on the subject and a synthesizing description of selected areas disturbing the development and upbringing of contemporary adolescents. Results The publication introduces and analyses the phenomenon of the global teenager and characterises it. In the description of areas disturbing the development and upbringing of the contemporary youth, the author of the article, referring to the key publication in this respect by Janusz Mastalski, distinguishes the area of dysfunctional families, the area of school, the area of loss of education itself and the axiological issues of the global teenager, the area of religiousness, which is: selective, impressionistic, personal, epidermal, uncomfortable, exploratory and private, and finally the area of opportunities and threats that globalism brings to adolescents. With a view to the pedagogical aspect, the first part of the article considers the problems associated with defining key concepts such as the youth, their development and upbringing. The publication touches contemporary dilemmas and challenges faced by educators of school youth Conclusions Formulating conclusions of an application and implementation character, the author appeals to all educational environments to urgently undertake supportive actions based on the integral development and upbringing of children and youth. She draws attention to the value of choices made in youth, through which one can "win or lose life".
