Athena: Revista de Arte was not only a stage for Fernando Pessoa's three heteronyms, but also a space for the convergence of collaborators and the experimentation of genres, arts, traditions, and translations. This study examines the translations published in the magazine—poems by Edgar Allan Poe, epigrams from The Greek Anthology, an essay by Walter Pater, and stories by O. Henry—as well as Pessoa's rewritings, analyzing their intersection with Athena’s editorial vectors. Three dimensions stand out: the neopaganism present in preliminary sketches for “Athena” prior to the magazine’s founding; a plural, heteronymic staging that connects translation with fictional plurality; and an aesthetic tension between classical mimesis and a powerful, inter- and extra-personal sensibility, which heightens the magazine’s thanatic tone, very evident in the translations of Poe.
