This article presents the syntactic properties of spoken material from the Prekmurje, Prlekija, Slovenian Hills, and Haloze dialects; specifically, the structure of simple and complex sentences, special features connected with word order, and connectors (especially coordinating and subordinating conjunctions and adverbs). The introduction analyzes the phonology and morphology of the Pannonian dialect group. The article also includes a syntactic analysis of two Prekmurje works of fiction written in standard Prekmurje Slovenian and formal standard Slovenian.
