The deterioration of the physical structure of the central areas in some of the cities in Colombia, generates the progressive loss of demand for the implantation of new activities, especially those that imply innovation, since the demand moves in search of better opportunities of location. The following article aims to analyze the appropriation of public space by informal sales in the city of San José de Cúcuta. Part of the problem in this research lies in the arrival of immigrants, high rates of informality and unemployment, which have fuelled the occupation of public space in an uncontrolled manner.
