Phreatic volcanic eruption preceded by observable shallow groundwater flow at Iwo-Yama, Kirishima Volcanic Complex, Japan

Abstract

Electric field changes generated by the movement of shallow groundwater can be regarded as a precursor to phreatic volcanic eruptions, according to near-vent geophysical observations of Iwo-Yama volcano in the Kirishima complex, Japan.
