Procedures for Evaluating Faculty Members’ Performance in Saudi Universrties from the Viewpoint of Deans and Chairmen

The purpose of this study was to determine the significance and utilization of the proceduresthat are being used by Saudi universities for evaluating faculty members' performance. To achieve this purpose, a questionnaire was developed and administered to the total population ofthis research which consisted of 227 deans and department chairmen at four randomly selected universitiesin Saudi Arabia. Statistical treatment of the data consisted of means. ranks. percentages. chi-square. Andanalysis of variance. Findings of the study indicated the necessity for evaluating faculty performance through various procedures such as students’ evaluation. peer evaluation. self-evaluation, and chairmanevaluation.
