A novel conjugated polyaniline (PANI)-[Cu2Cl4(m-aminophenylbenzimidazole)3] hybrid nanocomposites were prepared by using novel benzoyl peroxide as an organic oxidant by Inverse emulsion polymerization technique. The FTIR spectra of nanocomposites revealed the vibrational bands due to N–H stretching (3437 cm−1), quinoid (1487 cm−1) and benzenoid ring stretching (1384 cm−1). The conductivity of nanocomposites increases with PANI content. TGA thermogram nanocomposites (50/50) undergoes two-step weight loss in the temperature range 38–279 °C and 279–791 °C for first and second with a mass loss of 18 and 42% respectively. Thermograms reveal that the thermal stability of pure polyaniline was slightly enhanced by the incorporation of [Cu2Cl4L3]·2H2O complex. The formation of PANI-[Cu2Cl4L3]·2H2O nanocomposite was confirmed by FESEM pictures. Potentiodynamic polarization results show that the prepared nanocomposite shows mixed type corrosion inhibitor in 0.1 M HCl on steel-316 surface.
