The Cuban universities edit and show, a small publishing tradition, almost always from a journal whose impact is verified in the academic community by distributing it in paper format, and other projects, for some perhaps more solids, which are nourished by the benefits of new technologies and the Internet. In this sense, this work aims to reference those articles published in the printed period (1970-2001) of the journal Santiago that are dedicated to studies, diachronic or synchronous, of Linguistics, Philosophy, History or literature on Africa, Afro-America and Afrocaribe. Thus, 31 entries have been found that respond to these issues, of which only a few will be discussed to reflect on the various ways of approaching the Caribbean problem. The following methods were used: documentary observation, previous and essential step of content analysis, which is part of the various modalities of the general method of text analysis.
