One of the aims of political discourse has always been imposing and forcing views of the parties. So a subjecting seme is implied in the essence of the discourse. This article is devoted to the synonymic correlations in the micro semantic field of subjection in political discourse in Russian and English languages. In the article the verbs of the field are analysed from the point of view of hyponymic and synonymic relations. The synonymic rows are revealed and the relations of the synonyms in a row are studied from the point of view of their functioning in the text and on the basis of their vocabulary definitions. Similarities and differences between synonymic correlations of the given micro semantic field in both languages are found by the comparative analysis. Functioning of the words of subjection in a political discourse is discussed. It is found that hyperonyms constituting the core of the field under study are unlikely to be used in political texts, whereas, peripheral verbs are widely used. It should also be mentioned that the seme of subjection is not expressed directly, but through the lexemes from other fields, changing its meaning in the context. Interpretation of the results refers to the manipulating techniques and specific features of the discourse.
