Représenter l’engagement : rhétorique visuelle du Rahan de Chéret

Abstract

By copying vignettes and plates from the comic strip Rahan, this work being initially intended to elaborate a theoretical discourse on art, the author highlights the visual rhetoric at work in the drawings of André Chéret. Practicing these detour allows him to cut for a relative monosemia which makes the effectiveness of these images. Rahan appears as a comic strip where language is action, and where gestures of designation, opposition, tension, found plastically a culture of emancipation through debate.
