The electrical activity of the brain depending on the presence ofcentral pain syndrome in patients with multiple sclerosis wasanalyzed. In patients with multiple sclerosis and central painsyndrome, the increase of power spectrum of electrical activityin the theta- and beta1- frequency ranges in the temporal lobesof the right hemisphere and the increase of spectral power of 2-band in the occipital, parietal and temporal lobes of both hemisphereswere revealed. Data obtained and results of previousstudies in patients with pathological conditions associated withnervous dys-regulation suggest that the increase in the high EEGspectrum may be a universal indicator of changes in the CNSactivity in different pathologies, including the development ofcentral pain syndrome.
