D’Annunzio artefice in San Michele in Isola
Abstract
This essay presents Gabriele d’Annunzio’s contributions at the Venetian cemetery between 1916 and 1922. Despite what is normally believed, the poet did not merely dictate epigraphs to be carved on gravestones, but even designed some funerary monuments, personally overseeing their execution and sometimes covering the costs.
