Abstract: It is unequivocal that the US experienced political, social, and economic unrest and turmoil prior to Trump’s presidency. American historians as well as politicians and lawmakers viewed that the US democracy was under real and veritable threat during Trump’s four years tenure. statistics have demonstrated that the number of speech hate, hate crimes, polarization, and skepticism skyrocketed during Trump’s era. Beyond any doubt, social media platforms as well such as conservative ones were active instruments in the spread of hate speech, misinformation, and fake news. However, what made things worse was the widespread of false and baseless claims of an election fraud in America. The country which is the beacon of democracy, with the most transparent and credible presidential elections in the whole world was questioned by the former US president Mr Trump. He strongly tried to block the peaceful transfer of power by inciting his angry supporters, which they were largely White, middle-class Republicans to storm the Capitol in January 6th, 2021 insurrection. Therefore, this article aims to explore the extent of damage Trump caused to American democracy during his presidency, and how he helped to fuel suspicion by propagating the ‘Big Lie’, which eventually led to January’s presidential insurrection, and the US in the aftermath of this unprecedented incident. Keywords: American Democracy, Election Fraud, Skepticism, Misinformation, January’s Insurrection.
