Nursing care after hip arthroplasty

Abstract

Hip arthroplasty is a common surgical procedure, especially in the third-age population. The quality of life in patients after hip arthroplasty is equal to that of the reference population. Nursing after arthroplasty helps in restoring normal function of the damaged limb as well as in preventing complications. Post-arthroplasty care includes centering the damaged joint, assisting with exercise, and providing routine postoperative care. Equally important in nursing is home care teaching, as well as exercises that can last for several years, depending on the type of arthroplasty performed and the patient's condition.
