Abstract

Theron, the tyrant of Akragas praised by Pindar, was supposed to descend from Oedipus. The study of the Pindaric text and of the scholia shows that he could claim as ancestors Eteokles and Polyneikes. We try to connect this double genealogy with the political and religious context of Theron’s career.
