This paper juxtaposes the clinical management of two patients with intracranial hypertension secondary to viral infection: one due to Human Herpesvirus-6 and the second due to Varicella Zoster Virus. Our cases highlight the clinical and scientific importance of cerebrospinal fluid viral polymerase chain reaction testing in the evaluation of the high-pressure headache syndrome.
