This paper seeks to trace the development of the events surrounding the emergence of the Movimiento por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad en México, which arose following the murder of the son of Mexican poet Javier Sicilia. The movement has awakened the solidarity and mobilization of sectors of Mexican society seeking to put a stop to the so-called "war against drug trafficking", as well as relatives of victims have joined together to give names to their dead, recovering the historical memory. This article seeks to give an account of one of the most contemporary and current movements developing in Mexico, with demilitarization and the decriminalization of drugs at the center of the debate, both of which could contribute to pacification in Mexican territory. Finally, it should not be overlooked that high unemployment rates, poverty and lack of opportunities are perhaps the main causes of the escalation of violence in Mexico.
