THE GENDER CULTURE TODAY: ATTITUDES OF THE ADOLESCENT COLLECTIVE TOWARDS EQUALITY
Abstract
The aim of this research is to assess the information regarding the culture of gender obtained through a questionnaire, which worked as a sample of students in the second cycle of Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (Compulsory Secondary Education). These students have lived with the Equality Act most of their time at school so this is an appropiate investigative corpus to attempt to calibrate the actual effectiveness of the goals that this Act set. Anything related to the culture of gender is not a mere transmission of values through which our feelings and thoughts are expressed, because language “makes thought” and, at the same time, it represents and builds reality. Thus, the research not only shows the results of the tests filled in by the students but it also proposes an educational model that takes into account anything that from the educational institution is said to the students to be an act that produces some social effects. It is also pointed out the need to connect the school to society, and, therefore the committment to Service Learning, a methodology that links participation in community service with knowledge and values learning.
