Features of the Concertmaster’s Work in the Opera Theatre as a Teacher-Tutor and Performer

The article presents the scientific basis for the topic relevant for the modern musical theater. Thetopic lies indetermining the main functions and tasks ofthe concertmaster working with acting opera artists and students ofspecialized, creative, educational institutions. It also describes in detail the fact that the program of professional training of pianists has a unique discipline “Concertmaster’s Art”, which is absent inthe system of European music education. In the course of the analysis of this program, it turned out that, having acquired practical skills of the concertmaster art and having mastered a small part of the opera repertoire, students do not have a clear idea of what an experienced concertmaster needs to know and be able to do in the framework of creative practice. The article provides a scientific analysis and description of the role of the pianist in the musical theater and his assistance to the singer in preparing for participation in the performance. There is also a description of the diversity of theatre practice in the process of creative cooperation of the teacher­tutor with opera artists and its features are listed­from competent learning of the musical text with the vocalist to helping him to create a convincing part and role on stage. The statement is formed that the concertmaster in the musical theater accompanies the soloist at all stages of mastering the musical part and preparing the role. The article provides several practical examples of rhythmic difficulties and ways to overcome them, demonstrating the need to think outside the box in the creative process, achieving certain tasks: search, practice, develop individual methods of working with vocalists.
