Turkish female scientists generally work for universities. Reckoning from 2009, there are 48861 female academicians, 25% of which are professors. Unfortunately we do not have a totalitarian study about Turkish female academicians and so do not know their backgrounds, their struggles to become scientists, their contributions to sciences as well as why they prefer some fields. This article tries to evaluate the situation of female Turkish academicians from the beginning to today in respect of their contributions to sciences. For this purpose it is based on the doctorate thesis called “Turkish Female Academicians and their Contributions to Sciences” by trying to update the statistics as soon as possible. The women who were studied were limited to the ones who were given TUBA (The Turkish Academy of Sciences) and TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Awards
