The press is another of the varied and abundant documentary printed sources wich provide additional information to the avauilable proxy data in order to carry out studies about the climate in the past. In this paper, we analyze the Memorial Literario (a Spanish newspaper published between 1784 and 1808), whose pages included meteorological daily news from Madrid, Cadiz and Barcelona, scientific and environmental articles, and accounts about hydrometeorological events of extraordinary range. All these news contribute to upgrade the knowledge on climate oscillations and their consequences in Spain during the last quarter of the Eighteenth Century.
