PROPAGANDA VIZUALĂ A FEDERAȚIEI RUSE ÎN SPAȚIUL PUBLIC PRIVIND „MARELE RĂZBOI PENTRU APĂRAREA PATRIEI”

1. Objective: The purpose of this paper is to present the main visual elements used by the Russian Federation propaganda in public space based on the narrative of the Great Patriotic War. At the same time, the paper analyzes the use of this narrative in Russian foreign policy. In this case, symbols such as the Ribbon of Saint George, military parades, but also monuments, parks and museums dedicated to the perpetuation of the narrative of the Great Patriotic War will be analyzed. The originality of the research idea lies in the fact that visual content analysis has been used as methodology on the contemporary visual propaganda of the Russian Federation on the Great Patriotic War. 2. Research method: The methodology of the paper addressed both qualitative research and quantitative research through visual content analysis and observation. 3. Results: The visual elements were classified and numbered according to the themes used: symbols, monuments, politcians, Vladimir Putin, historical photographs, military parades, events. Each element of these categories is analyzed and contextualized in terms of the goals and objectives of Russia's domestic and foreign policy. 4. Conclusion: Russian official propaganda presents the Soviet victory in World War II as the founding element of today's Russian identity. This victory, alive in popular memory, is used by Vladimir Putin's regime to justify its aggressive actions.
