The aim of this research was to understand the process of training university professors through the teaching internship in the PhD Course in Administration in a Brazilian public university. The research was based on the theoretical-analytical contribution of ergology and on the analysis of the work activity of “teacher-students” in the first semester of 2018 to understand how they put their values, choices and beliefs in their actions before a set of established norms and organizational context. The results of this research point out that the participants realize the relevance of the teacher’s role and the interpersonal relations in the context, giving importance to their relations with the students and demanding a greater interaction with the tutor-teacher, as well as with the coordination of the program in order to cooperate with the teacher training process. They use their formal and informal knowledge, reflect on the dynamics of learning how to teach, although they are concerned with previous norms, they do not hesitate to change their work form to better adjust the methodology and content to the students and their singularities.
