This research explores the realm of pre-industrial street names within East Central European cities, aiming to unveil the historical, linguistic, and socio-cultural dimensions they encapsulate. Through a cross-regional analysis, common archetypes and naming patterns were researched, transcending geographical confines. The study underscores the relevance of historical atlases in facilitating comparative research, shedding light on street names as repositories of narratives. These names, carrying echoes of professions, ethnic origins, and geographical landmarks, serve as windows into urban evolution and societal dynamics. By embracing the complexity of street names, this research emphasizes the importance of studying street names as sources of urban history.
