Les violences faites aux peuples dans les logiques du système-monde

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to relate violence towards people — and especially ethnic- violence – to World-system's logics. The world-system is economically founded, but remains politically marked by the generic violence of the imperialism. Beyond the basic centre-periphery binomial, dominant and subordinate positions are not without consequences on the nature of the political violences in general and more particularly the inter-ethnical ones. This paper examines these links and the underlying mechanisms.
