Based on the memories, archival sources and monographs studied the Orthodox Church in Chernihiv region and its impact on the local peasantry in the context of German occupation policy in 1941-1943. The presented materials show the number of repaired churches in the three largest cities and other smaller settlements. Problems are marked with the restoration of religious buildings in villages of the area and how to resolve this issue locally. Characterized the attitude of the German administration to the Orthodox religion as a means of manipulating the local population in terms of combating the partisans and submissive attitude towards the occupation authorities. Defined constraints for the local population as to which religious holidays when it was possible celebrate and what punishment was waiting for violators. Information was given about clergymen. Who came to serve. Which arose difficulties in providing religious services and by which incomes they could live. Considerable attention is spared to the ordinary population and their desire through a church to find a rescue from a that danger that carried to them war.
