Por uma Arqueologia dos Candomblés: contribuições da ciência do passado aos estudos dos fenômenos religiosos

Abstract

As a way of contributing to the knowledge and appreciation of Afro-Brazilian religious matrices, especially Candomblé, we aim to present how Archeology can contribute in this process, especially by emphasizing the historical and material depth of this religiosity, both analysable by material culture. Thus, we aim to present and defend a subarea of Historical Archeology, which we call Candomble Archeology, and, through a case study carried out in the remnants of Terreiro of Gomeia (Duque de Caxias/RJ), demonstrate the feasibility of the archaeological study in the past knowledge of Candomblé.
