The dynamics of morbidity and provision of urological resources in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Abstract

Background: This study aims to analyze the prevalence of diseases of the genitourinary system in the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2015 to 2022. Methods: We used the information from the primary registration database of the incidence of diseases of the genitourinary system in the regions of Almaty of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The data on the number of patients with diseases of the genitourinary system were obtained from the compilation “Health of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Activities of Healthcare Organizations for the years 2015–2022''. The provision of the population of Kazakhstan with urological profile beds and urologists was analyzed. Results: The highest morbidity rate is observed in Northern Kazakhstan - 4984.8 cases per 100,000 people. The lowest morbidity rate is observed in Atyrau - 1619.8 cases per 100,000 population, which may indicate better health conditions in this region compared to others. Over time, the number of cases increased, reaching a peak in 2018 with 4471.9 cases. The forecast for 2029 shows that the number of cases will be 1888.3. Morbidity started at 3852.3 cases per 100,000 population in 2015. In the following years, morbidity decreases and reaches 2889.6 cases in 2022. In 2016, an increase of 382.7 cases was noted, while in 2019, there was a decrease of 353 cases. Conclusion: These data indicate the need to develop effective preventive measures and screening strategies for the high-risk population.
