Potency of Bioactive Compounds 6-gingerol, Morin, Cinnamic, Gallic, and Kaemferol in Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale Var. Rubrum Rhizoma) as Oral Cavity Anticancer Drugs against Galectin-1 Protein: Study In silico
Abstract
Introduction: Oral cavity cancer is ranked the sixth type of cancer in the world and accounts for more than 90% of squamous cell carcinoma. The bioactive compounds in red ginger can be used as a cancer prevention drug, especially for carcinoma cancer, which has not been studied in depth at this time. The purpose of this study was to identify bioactive compounds in red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum rhizoma) as an oral anticancer drug against Galectin-1 protein: study in silico. Methods: The research method used is the in silico method, which examines the compounds of potential anticancer drugs in red ginger computationally. Results: The results of this study are that the 6-Gingerol compound in red ginger has a good binding affinity value (-6.2), binds on the same side as the control compound, has the same amino acid resemblance to the control compound, has physical and chemical properties that meet Lipinski rule, and has no toxicity. Conclusion: Therefore, this 6-Gingerol compound is the most suitable or recommended as a candidate for oral anticancer drugs (squamous cell carcinoma).
